Charges Brought Against Employees of the Polish Film Institute
A prosecutor from the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office, based on evidence gathered by officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Łódź, has brought charges against five employees of the Polish Film Institute. The investigation concerns a number of irregularities in the functioning of the institution.
Financial misconduct by the former director
According to the findings of the investigation conducted by officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Łódź , the former director of the Polish Film Institute used official payment cards to cover expenses unrelated to the institution’s activities, resulting in financial damage amounting to more than PLN 1 million.
The investigation also established that between 2021 and 2023, the suspect failed to return to the state budget targeted subsidies intended to support audiovisual production, causing financial damage of considerable value amounting to more than PLN 1 million.
Persons jointly responsible for the irregularities
Among those charged is also a person holding a managerial position at the Polish Film Institute, who had previously served as head of one of the departments and as chief accountant, working with the then-director between 2017 and 2024.
The charges brought by the prosecutor in September 2026 concern actions detrimental to the interests of the Polish Film Institute, including causing damage of considerable value.
