Detention in connection with irregularities at Słowiński National Park
Officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau have detained one person in connection with a promise of financial gain. The case involves an abuse of power by an employee of the National Park Service. The investigation is being supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Słupsk.
On September 22, 2026, officers from the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Gdańsk detained a National Park Service employee in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The investigation concerns a promise to provide a financial benefit in exchange for issuing favourable environmental approvals, as well as actions detrimental to the public interest.
Promise of Financial Benefit
According to the findings of the CBA investigation, an employee of the National Park Service allegedly promised the director of the Słowiński National Park a financial benefit in the form of ownership rights to two building lots. In exchange, there was allegedly a violation of zoning regulations and favorable changes to building permits.
Abuse of Powers
Another thread concerns allegations that the detainee abused his powers and failed to fulfil his duties. Without the director’s knowledge or consent, he allegedly made the official residence assigned to him available to third parties on multiple occasions as a place to stay overnight. In doing so, he allegedly misappropriated the property rights entrusted to him to dispose of the premises and collected undue fees for accommodation. The total value of the funds obtained in that way amounted to at least 20,000 PLN.
Charges and Preventive Measures
The suspect was brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Słupsk. The prosecutor charged the suspect with alleged corruption, embezzlement, abuse of power, failure to fulfil official duties, and acting to the detriment of the public interest. The suspect has been put under police supervision. They have also been suspended from official duties. This is the third operation in the ongoing investigation. Further procedural activities are planned.
