The CBA disrupts a corruption practice

The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau has detained another employee of the Bytom Branch of the Mine Restructuring Company. It is the second detention in recent weeks.

The officers of the CBA Regional Office in Katowice have detained an investor supervision inspector in SRK SA (Company for the Restructuring of Mines) - "Centrum" Coal Mine, Bytom Branch. The activities have been carried out in the territory of Silesia. It is the result of further findings in connection with the ongoing proceedings concerning corruption in the awarding of orders and acceptance of construction works.

The investigation has been carried out by the CBA, under the supervision of the Silesian Field Division of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption in Katowice. The detained woman was charged with corruption. The court accepted the request of the Prosecutor's Office and applied to the suspect a preventive measure in the form of remand in custody for three months.

At the beginning of December, the CBA officers detained an investor supervision inspector in this case. The man was apprehended immediately after accepting a bribe of PLN 30 thousand.

So far, the charges presented against both suspects concern accepting over PLN 180 thousand of undue financial advantages.

We appeal to all individuals who have given a financial advantage and thus got involved in the case that they may take advantage of the so-called non-punishment clause under article 229, paragraph 6 of the Criminal Code. The offender must report the fact before the law enforcement authorities have learnt about it from a different source and disclose all material circumstances of the criminal offence.
