Unethical Practices by Inspectors
Officers from the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau have detained five individuals in connection with managerial corruption. The case involves misconduct by environmental protection inspectors. The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice.
On May 20, 2025, officers from the Regional Office of the CBA in Kraków detained three women and two men in Gorzów Wielkopolski and the surrounding area of Zielona Góra. Among those detained are a current and a former inspector from the Voivodeship Inspectorate of Environmental Protection in Zielona Góra, as well as private entrepreneurs specializing in commercial environmental documentation services.
In the Lubusz Voivodeship, CBA officers from the Regional Office of the CBA in Kraków and Poznań searched several locations, including an accounting office and companies responsible for preparing environmental documentation. During these actions, documents and electronic equipment were secured. The multi-threaded investigation into the acceptance of financial benefits and abuse of power by public officials is being supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice.

Evidence collected during the preliminary investigation suggests that inspectors from the Voivodeship Inspectorate of Environmental Protection in Zielona Góra were involved in the preparation of environmental documentation.
Charges and Preventive Measures
The detainees were brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice, where they were charged under Article 296a § 1 in connection with Article 12 § 1, and Article 296a § 2 in connection with Article 12 § 1 of the Polish Penal Code. Non-custodial preventive measures were applied to all suspects, including police supervision and a ban on contacting other suspects involved in the investigation.
Investigation Progress
To date, 15 individuals have been detained and charged in the course of this investigation. The case is ongoing, and further procedural actions are planned.
