CENTRAL ANTI-CORRUPTION BUREAU always in the interest of Poland Damage Exceeding PLN 37 Million - News

On May 6, 2025, officers from the Regional Office of the CBA in Wrocław detained seven individuals in the Dolnośląskie, Śląskie, Mazowieckie, and Podkarpackie provinces. The detainees include company presidents, representatives, and employees of entities involved in procurement procedures. The arrests are connected to an ongoing investigation into the management and execution of tenders concerning investments in the construction or modernization of waste processing and sorting facilities. The investments were carried out between 2018 and 2020.

Detrimental Disposal of Assets

According to findings from the preliminary investigation, representatives of waste management companies colluded with contractors, leading to reduced competition and inflated investment costs. As a result, institutions co-financing the projects with public funds were misled into unfavorable financial decisions. The total value of the damage exceeds PLN 37 million.

Preventive Measures Imposed

The detainees were transported to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Świdnica, where they were formally charged and provided explanations.

The prosecutor imposed preventive measures on the suspects. For four individuals, the following were applied: police supervision, a ban on contact with specific persons, a prohibition on applying for public tenders, a surety in the amount of PLN 50,000, and for two of them, suspension from the duties of the chairman of the board.

For one individual, the Prosecutor applied police supervision, a ban on applying for public procurement contracts, a ban on contact with designated persons and a surety of PLN 40,000.

In the case of two suspects, the Prosecutor has filed a motion for pre-trial detention.
