Rigged tenders for medical equipment. Another person detained

Another person involved in rigging medical equipment tenders has been detained by the CBA.

By order of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław, officers of the CBA Regional Office in Warsaw have detained another person in connection with the investigation into obstruction of tendering procedures for medical equipment for healthcare facilities in Poland. This time, it is an employee of a healthcare facility. The detained woman has already faced charges of obstructing a public tender for the supply of equipped ambulances.

To date, 10 persons have been charged in the case, including healthcare employees and a representative of a company which supplied medical equipment.

The CBA Regional Office in Warsaw has been carrying out an investigation, under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław, into the dissemination of information of significant importance for the conclusion of contracts subject to tenders and entering into an agreement with other persons to the detriment of the institutions for which the tenders were organised. The proceedings cover the years 2019 – 2020.

A representative of a well-known company supplying medical equipment to healthcare institutions entered into informal agreements with employees of the units responsible for preparing the description of the subject of the contract or directly participating in the work of the tender committees. The total value of orders under investigation, in which irregularities were allegedly committed, amounts to about PLN 5 million.

More threads of this case are being investigated with possible further detentions and charges.
