Irregularities in tenders issued by the Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute

Eight persons have been detained in connection with a new case conducted jointly by the CBA and the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.

The officers of the CBA Regional Office in Warsaw have been carrying out, under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, an investigation concerning, among other things, irregularities in the tenders issued by the Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute (PIG-PIB). The proceedings cover the years 2019 – 2020.

As a result of the evidence gathered in the case, the CBA officers detained eight persons, including a former PGI-PIB employee and seven entrepreneurs from the Mazowieckie, Lubelskie and Świętokrzyskie Voivodships who operated in the construction industry.

The investigators' findings indicate that the irregularities could have occurred in a number of public procurements concerning the Institute's buildings, including design, construction and renovation works, construction of access roads, maintenance works on ventilation and air-conditioning systems, and equipment.

In the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, the detainees have been charged with failure to fulfil duties and abuse of powers in order to gain financial advantage, making false statements, invoking influence in a state institution in order to gain financial advantage, and tender collusion.

The investigation is developing.
