Representatives of the Craftsmen's Guild charged with corruption

In recent days, the CBA officers have detained five persons in connection with a revealed corruption practice. The detainees expected a favourable administrative decision in return for bribes.

The officers of the CBA Regional Office in Lublin have obtained information about a bribe offer made by two men - representatives of the board of the Craftsmen's Guild - to a public official. Within the framework of their activities, they have detained the "bidders", in the area of the Łódzkie Voivodship. The activities were conducted directly after they handed over a financial benefit of PLN 10,000 in exchange for a favourable sale of real estate. The "gratification" was a part of the promised PLN 20,000.

The evidence gathered in the case was handed over to the Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor's Office, where a decision was made to initiate investigation in this case and entrust its conduct to the CBA.

As a result of intensive investigative activities, a decision was made to detain three more men - representatives of the Guild - who acted in cooperation with the persons detained earlier.

All the detainees were charged with corruption. The Prosecutor decided to apply non-custodial preventive measures against four persons. A request for temporary arrest was submitted against the fifth person. The request was accepted by the court.
