Reprivatisation - 5 detainees

A new thread in the complex investigation into irregularities in Warsaw reprivatisation. Five individuals detained by the CBA.

The officers of the CBA Regional Office in Warsaw, under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław, have been carrying out an investigation into the irregularities in reprivatisation in Warsaw. Due to this investigation, the CBA detained five persons.

The investigation concerns property that before World War II belonged to noble families of that time, i.e. several dozen properties located in the territory of the Republic of Poland (palace complexes, developed and undeveloped real estate) and the so-called compensation for property beyond the Bug river, located in the territory of present-day Ukraine and Belarus, as well as real estate covered by the decree of 26 October 1945 in the territory of the capital city of Warsaw, worth at least PLN 170 million.

In the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław, the detainees will now face charges of having committed offences against the property of a large value, as well as offences against the credibility of documents. The case is in progress.

Currently, about 60 criminal proceedings are being conducted regarding irregularities in the reprivatisation of nearly 400 Warsaw properties. So far, charges have been brought against over 80 persons. As it has been established, the value of the damage caused by the suspects' actions amounts to approximately PLN 340 million. The public prosecutor's office has already filed 15 indictments against 49 persons.
