A citizen of Ukraine detained in investigation of VAT frauds


The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau officers from Rzeszów have detained a Ukrainian citizen suspected in an investigation into VAT extortion. The detention was carried out in cooperation with the Bieszczady Border Guard Unit.
 
The detainee is suspected of giving bribes to customs officers as well as aiding and abetting  extortion of "VAT for travellers" (VAT refund based on the so-called TAX FREE document) by introducing untrue documents to the market.
 
The investigation has been carried out by the Regional Office of the CBA in Rzeszów, under the supervision of the National Prosecutor's Office. So far, 29 people have heard allegations in this case.
 
By court order, the man will be remanded in custody for 3 months.
