Careless management in Bielszowice Hard Coal Mine

The owner of a Silesian company detained by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau. A contract execution and a loss of over PLN 1,700,000 to the detriment of the Hard Coal Mine involved.

The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Katowice have detained the owner of a Silesian enterprise. The investigation has been carried out with the District Prosecutor's Office in Gliwice. The proceedings cover irregularities in the execution of the contract for modernisation of electric equipment of a medium voltage switching station for the needs of Bielszowice Hard Coal Mine in Ruda Śląska.

The investigation findings indicate that in the years 2012 - 2013 the detainee deliberately misled the employees of the Accounting Services Centre of the Coal Company (Kompania Węglowa S.A.) into the execution of the contract. The evidence gathered indicates that Bielszowice Hard Coal Mine was supplied with equipment of different technical parameters than the contracted one.

An appointed expert estimated that the loss in the Coal Company property could amount to over PLN 1,700,000.

The detainee will be presented with charges in the District Prosecutor's Office in Gliwice. Previously, the charges of aiding and abetting to commit a fraud were presented to the chief electrician for basic facilities of Bielszowice Hard Coal Mine, who was responsible for the entire contract execution on behalf of the commissioning party.

The case is still expanding.
