Treasurer detained on corruption charges
The CBA officers have detained the treasurer of Sośnicowice Municipality and two persons sitting on the Management Board of the Cooperative Bank. The case concerns possible irregularities in one of public procurements announced by the Municipality.
The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Katowice detained the treasurer of the Sośnicowice Municipality and the president and vice-president of the Cooperative Bank. The activities are connected with an investigation into an abuse of powers in order to obtain a financial advantage in relation to a procedure for allocating the Municipality’s available funds. The investigators’ findings indicate that the civil servant accepted a financial advantage in exchange for assistance to choose the most beneficial bid.
Afer the completion of the activities, all detainees will be taken to the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, where they will hear charges.
