At least 75,000 zlotys extorted from the subsidies of the Ministry of National Education

Agents of the CBA have detained an entrepreneur from Kielce. The case concerns a fraud of at least 75,000 zlotys from the subsidies of the Ministry of National Education.

The owner of a chain of secondary school and post-secondary schools operating in the Podkarpackie, Małopolskie, Świętokrzyskie and Śląskie voivodeships has been detained by the officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Rzeszów. The investigation concerns the suspicion of extortion of funds from the subsidies of the Ministry of National Education, as well as unlawful influence on the investigation conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Przemyśl.

During the preparatory proceedings, a material, indicating that documentation attesting untruth in terms of both the number of persons who were the students of the classes, as well as their individual participation in them was submitted to the local self-government authorities, which are the administrators of the funds of the Ministry of National Education, was collected. Preliminary findings of investigators indicate the extortion of at least 75,000 zlotys. The detained woman was charged in the District Prosecutor's Office in Przemyśl.

Process activities are still ongoing and further threads related to the activities of educational institutions are being investigated.

Therefore, the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Rzeszów informs that people who are aware of producing unreliable documentation, and especially the signatures confirming their participation in classes in which they did not actually participate, are asked to call immediately at telephone number (17) 784 37 50 on working days from 7.00 to 19.00 to 28 June 2019, or 24 hours on 800 808 808.

The attitudes of the persons in question may have a significant impact on subsequent formal and legal assessment of the occurring events with their participation, because in the conducted proceedings further detentions can be expected, as indicated by the developmental character of the investigation.
