Up to 56 million losses. Investigation into irregularities in biomass trade at ENEA SA and subsidiaries

Agents of the CBA Regional Office in Białystok as part of the investigation of property damage caused to the state treasury company - ENEA SA consisting in the incorrect turnover of biomass, entered into 10 offices and companies throughout Poland. Documents and electronic data are secured.

The investigation concerns the purchase of so-called ordinary biomass (including sawmill waste) by a subsidiary of ENEA S.A. and its registration as a more expensive energy biomass (e.g. basket willow). According to arrangements of agents, among others such waste has been fired and incinerated in Białystok Heat and Power Plant since 2012.

The searches are carried out at the premises of private companies participating in the dealings and at the Bialystok Heat and Power Plant. Evidence is also secured in one of the departments of the Energy Regulatory Office and in the headquarters of ENEA S.A. in Kozienice.

The CBA estimates from the investigation indicate that ENEA S.A. in this way it could suffer significant material damage - even over 56 million PLN.

Supervision over the activities is carried out by the District Prosecutor's Office in Łomża.
