Out of service mountain hostel at Babia Mountain (Babia Góra). Charges for former director

The CBA's Regional Office in Cracow is investigating the abuse of power by the former director of the Babia Mountain National Park. The investigation revealed irregularities in the construction of the mountain hostel and the construction of the tourist route. Losses in the Park's assets amount to nearly 615,000 PLN. The case is supervised by the District Prosecutor's Office in Tarnów.

As part of the investigation, led by the Krakow Regional Office, the former director of the Babia Mountain National Park in the years 2000-2015 heard two charges of overrunning in the field of his position.

The case concerns irregularities in the construction of a mountain hostel in the Babiogórski National Park. Contemporary director of the Park himself issued a positive opinion, that the investment would not negatively affect environmental protection. He was both an investor and an applicant, and he issued to himself a positive opinion on the construction of the mountain hostel.

Investigators are investigating the correctness of cost estimate for the modernization of the "Górny Płaj" tourist route. The man agreed to change the technology of modernization of the route by using inferior materials than ordered. At the same time he did not make any changes to the cost estimate. The director's actions thereby caused damage to the Park's assets for nearly 615 thousand PLN.

The proceeding is ongoing, the CBA officers in Cracow are conducting a number of activities. The former director was charged in the District Prosecutor's Office in Tarnów.
