On 24 March this year, officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Warsaw apprehended two men in the act while they were handing over a financial benefit in the center of Poznań — the president of the management board and a commercial proxy of a company operating in the real estate sector.

Due to a justified concern about the destruction or loss of evidence, CBA officers proceeded with the immediate detention of the company’s representatives. Procedural actions were conducted under the powers provided for in Article 308 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

During the operation, officers secured documentation, data storage devices, mobile phones, and cash in the amount of PLN 60,000. CCTV recordings were also secured.

A favorable decision for the company

Findings of the Regional Office of the CBA in Warsaw indicate that between February and March 2026, the detained men, acting jointly and in agreement, attempted to offer a financial benefit of PLN 75,000 in exchange for intermediation in handling a case at the District Inspectorate of Building Control for the City of Poznań.

The bribe was intended to expedite the issuance of a favorable administrative decision for the company regarding a construction project in Poznań, which had been suspended as a result of actions taken by the District Inspectorate of Building Control for the City of Poznań.

Preventive measures applied

The detained individuals were brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań, where they were charged with attempting to offer a financial benefit and promising such a benefit in exchange for exerting influence over the decision of a public official. The prosecutor applied non-custodial preventive measures, including bail in the total amount of PLN 65,000.

The case is ongoing

An assessment of the collected evidence is underway. Further procedural actions are planned.
