Inmate posing as a lawyer
Officers from the Regional Office of the CBA in Wrocław are carrying out procedural activities in an investigation conducted by the District Prosecutor's Office in Nysa into the unlawful intermediation of a person serving a prison sentence to obtain release from prison. The intermediary relied on his influence within the medical community and the justice system.
The investigation revealed that one of the inmates, posing as an attorney, offered to mediate for another inmate in obtaining inaccurate medical records. The documents were intended to be used to obtain a suspended sentence. In exchange for the intermediation, the inmate seeking release agreed to pay PLN 30,000, an amount previously offered by the intermediary.
The evidence gathered indicates that the detained woman allegedly assisted the intermediary by providing a bank account into which a portion of the offered financial benefits was transferred.
Charges and Preventive Measures
The detained woman and two inmates were brought to the District Prosecutor's Office in Nysa. The prosecutor charged the men with paid protection, and the woman with charges of aiding and abetting this offence and receiving stolen goods with intent.
Preventive measures were imposed on all suspects, including police supervision and a ban on contacting with specific individuals.
