CBA and KAS have detected a criminal scheme in the purchase of cars

Officers of the CBA Regional Office in Gdańsk, in cooperation with officers of the Warmian-Mazuria Customs and Tax Office in Olsztyn (National Tax Administration - KAS), have unravelled a network of connections in the purchase of more than 100 cars from the Government Strategic Reserve Agency.

The CBA Regional Office in Gdansk, in cooperation with the Warmia and Mazury Customs and Fiscal Office in Olsztyn (KAS), is investigating invoking influence by a group of identified persons in the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves in connection with the purchase-sale transaction of 109 motor vehicles in exchange for a financial gain of nearly PLN 8.5 million and leading one of the car dealers to an unfavourable disposition of property in the indicated amount. The investigation is supervised by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Lublin.

Officers of the CBA Regional Office in Gdańsk, jointly with officers of the National Tax Administration, searched 11 locations, including the premises of companies from the Śląskie, Mazowieckie and Pomorskie Voivodships. On the territory of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Wejherowo district, 4 persons connected with the criminal proceedings were detained. Officers secured documentation and data communications media for the case.

The detainees were brought to the Regional Public Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, where they were charged with an offence of invoking influence in a governmental institution, fraud to the detriment of one of the car dealers from the Lublin Voivodship, and money laundering.

Upon the motion of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, the District Court in Lublin applied isolation preventive measures in the form of detention for 3 months against three suspects. Against one suspect, the prosecutor applied non-custodial preventive measures in the form of police supervision, bail, and a ban on contact with other suspects.

The case is under development, further and arrests in the case are planned.
