VI International Anticorruption Conference

Strengthening international cooperation in preventing and combating corruption is the main theme of the VI International Anticorruption Conference.

This year, for the first time in the five year history of the event, the conference was held for two days and was entitled Strengthening international cooperation in preventing and combating corruption. The VI International Anticorruption Conference. The meeting is a joint debate integrating anti-corruption activities of various services and institutions that recognize the destructive force of corruption and are interested in a broad prevention and the fight against corruption. Joint celebrations give hope to design and promote the best solutions and provide an opportunity to discuss a number of troubling issues and to exchange experiences.

This year's theme of the project is in line with the Government's Anti-Corruption Program for the years 2014-2019 and is centered around the two tasks aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the aspect of preventing, as well as combating corruption.

The first day of the conference included speeches by high-level representatives of Polish and foreign services and international organizations. The experience of their institutions were presented to the participants in the following order: the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (STT), the National Anticorruption Center from Moldova (CNA), the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI), the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), Transparency International (TI) the National Anticorruption Directorate of Romania (DNA), the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption from Austria (BAK) and the Border Guard.

On the second day of the event the meeting was addressed to experts and will be held in two panels. The first panel will include the presentation of experiences in international cooperation in the fight against corruption by speakers from the following institutions: the European Anti-Fraud Office, National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), Polish National Police Headquarters, Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA), National Crime Agency from the United Kingdom (NCA), the OSCE, Serious Fraud Office from the United Kingdom (SFO) and the Prosecutor General's Office. The second panel will include presentations discussing international experiences in combating corruption. The presentations will be performed by the representatives of: Stefan Batory Foundation, Center for Prevention and Countering Corruption and Organized Crime from Bulgaria (CPCCOC), the Ministry of Justice, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the General Inspector of Financial Information, as well as the National Integrity Agency from Romania (ANI).

The International Anti-Corruption Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in October 2003. It commemorates the ratification of the UN Convention Against Corruption signed in December 2003 in Merida, Mexico. The UN initiative emphasizes the role of the Convention in combating and preventing corruption in public and private life as well as it aims to increase public awareness in this scope.
