A customs officer detained by the CBA

The CBA officers from the Regional Office in Białystok detained a customs officer and two individuals connected with gambling. The detained customs officer repeatedly warned the owner of an illegal gambling business. The gambling machines disappeared from the premises only “for a while”.

In the course of an investigation, the CBA officers found that the customs officer from Iława abused his powers through regularly conveying information about planned inspections of the Customs Chamber to the owner of the so-called small casinos. One of the detained men participated in the activity as a middleman.

Some of the gambling machines accepted illegal chips of high values. The premises did not have necessary concessions. Before the initiation of customs inspections, the premises were closed or the gambling machines were switched off or temporarily removed.

The CBA officers secured almost 30 slots.

The prosecutor submitted a request for a temporary arrest of the customs officer.

Against the two other individuals non-isolation measures in the form of police supervision, property surety, and a ban on leaving the country were applied. The proceedings are carried out by the Regional Office of the CBA in Białystok, under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Elbląg.
